O ambicioso projeto de Andrew Clinco, talentoso multi-instrumentista que teve passagem nos Marriages de Emma Ruth Rundle, foi evoluindo sem nunca esquecer as suas raízes no retro, permeado por influências de darkwave, dreampop e post-punk numa fusão harmoniosa – embora por vezes dissonante – a que chamaram tragic wave. A Deb Demure, alter-ego de Clinco, juntou-se Mona D, enriquecendo a experiência ao vivo de modo a transmitir o notável trabalho de estúdio na sua plenitude.
Após um EP e três álbuns aclamados (sobretudo o memorável Modern Mirror), 2023 assinala o lançamento do seu mais recente trabalho, An Object In Motion. Lançado, como já tem sido habitual, pela Dais Records (casa de projetos como Hide, Body of Light, Hiro Kone e High Vis), este EP marca um novo ponto de viragem para a banda. Inspirado pelo isolamento na cidade costal de Yachats, Oregon, a nova paisagem pintada por Demure é colorida não apenas pelos géneros que há muito caracterizam os Drab Majesty mas também pelo neo-folk e americana – bem como por um lote de colaborações invejáveis, como Rachel Goswell (Slowdive), Justin Meldal-Johnson (Beck, M83, Air), e Ben Greenberg (Uniform).
Em data dupla nesta passagem por Portugal há muito aguardada, os Drab Majesty convidam o seu público a mergulhar num universo onde o retro e o vanguardista andam de mãos dadas e distorcem a percepção do tempo através de uma performance hipnotizante. A primeira data será em Lisboa, no Musicbox, dia 25 de outubro, rumando no dia seguinte a norte para um concerto no Hard Club, no Porto.
Drab Majesty were born as the ambitious solo project by Andrew Clinco, drummer for Emma Ruth Rundle's Marriages and a talented multi-instrumentalist. They have evolved without ever forgetting their roots in retro, permeated by influences from darkwave, dreampop and post-punk in a harmonious fusion – although sometimes dissonant – that they themselves would later call tragic wave. Inspired by a retreat in the coastal town of Yachats, Oregon, Demure's new landscape is painted not just through the genres that have long characterized Drab Majesty but also by neo-folk and Americana - as well as a number of enviable collaborations, such as Rachel Goswell (Slowdive), Justin Meldal-Johnson (Beck, M83, Air), and Ben Greenberg (Uniform).
In this long-awaited visit to Portugal, Drab Majesty invite their audience to immerse themselves in a universe where retro and avantgarde go hand in hand and distort the perception of time through a mesmerizing performance. The first date will be in Lisbon, at Musicbox, on October 25th, with the band heading north the following day for a concert at Porto’s Hard Club.
