Aqueduto Tour by ESN Lisboa

The Águas Livres Aqueduct is one of the most emblematic monuments of Lisbon but still not one of the most visited, so ESN Lisboa has prepared two great guided tours just so you can get to know the city even better.

The Aqueduct is the most emblematic work of Portuguese engineering from the 18th century and by itself it has 18km of length but it has a net of canals that extends around 56km. It was built to bring drinking water from the municipality of Odivelas to Lisbon.

One of the most famous water reservoirs from this net is the Mãe d'Água reservoir, in Amoreiras. It is the biggest one and has the capacity 5500m3 of water. Now it is deactivated and is visitable.

O Aqueduto das Águas Livres é um dos monumentos mais emblemáticos da cidade de Lisboa e continua como um dos menos visitados. Por isso a ESN Lisboa preparou estas visitas guiadas para ti!

O Aqueduto é o trabalho de engenharia portuguesa mais emblemático do século XVIII e por si só tem 15km de comprimento, atingindo cerca de 56km através da rede de canais. Foi construido para fornecer água potável à cidade de Lisboa, a partir de Odivelas.

O reservatório de água mais famoso e maior deste complexo é o reservatório da Mãe d'Água das Amoreiras que tem uma capacidade para 5500m3 de água. Encontra-se agora desactivado e é visitável.
