We have all noticed that It is up to the past to make the present meaningful.
Nostalgia, a sentimental longing for the past which often involves the simultaneous expression of happiness and sadness, plays an important role in the way we give meaning to our experiences.
Though historically it has been viewed as a disease of the brain or the mind and was considered a disorder for many years, recent research has shown that nostalgia actually enhances psychological health and well-being (e.g., Routledge, Wildschut, Sedikides & Juhl, 2013).
On May 26, professor Constantine Sedikides, one of the leading researchers in the area of nostalgia, will come all the way from Southampton to honour us with a lecture on his research.
The entrance is free, and everyone is welcome to join us.
