João Ferro Martins apresenta CATARATA Concerto encenado com Joana Guerra (violoncelo) e Isadora Alves (leitura) CATARATA: Volume contínuo que se despenha de certa altura por disposição do tempo. Queda de som em forma de cortina, caudal coletivo e contínuo do qual fazem parte os artistas das áreas da música, artes visuais e performance: André Tasso, Bruno Humberto e João Ferro Martins. Entre os sintetizadores alterados pelo bloco de efeitos, samples, bateria e guitarra elétrica, tem lugar um acontecimento que se define pelas possibilidades combativas e aglutinadoras destes objetos sonoros. Enquanto a síntese debita um volumoso corpo harmónico a guitarra pode tornar-se puro ruído. Ou a mecânica criada pelo sampler e os ritmos hipnóticos obrigam os outros elementos a procurar lugares mais tonais. A fluidez da cadência musical, da sintonia e de uma incontornável aceitação do presente dita os encontros e desencontros que poderão promover a mais frutuosa sinergia entre o acontecimento sonoro, os músicos e o público. Lado B As designações “lado A” e “lado B” referem-se aos dois lados de um disco ou de uma cassete, mas também revela algo sobre o conteúdo. O A é tipicamente o lado mais oficial, o que inclui o hit. O B é um lado mais informal e inclui muitas vezes uma faixa de bónus. Este programa do maat, desenvolvido a par da exposição The Peepshow – Artistas da Coleção de Arte Portuguesa Fundação EDP, foca-se no lado informal dos artistas, no seu lado B. Pretende-se criar espaço para que se estabeleça uma relação mais casual entre o público e o artista. Em cada sábado podemos esperar o inesperado no museu: um concerto, uma sessão de desenho com um bom vinho, uma aula de ioga sobre sonhos… será o lado B do artista a revelar-se. . . . . . João Ferro Martins presents CATARATA Staged concert with Joana Guerra (cello) and Isadora Alves (reading) CATARATA: A continual volume of sound plummets from a height through the propensity of time. A sound-fall in the form of a curtain – a collective and continual flow to which André Tasso, Bruno Humberto and João Ferro Martins, musical, visual and performance artists, belong. Amid the effects-altered synthesisers, samples, drums and electric guitar, what occurs is an event defined by the combative and unifying possibilities of these sound objects. While the synthesis creates a harmonious body of sound, the guitar has the potential for pure noise. Or the mechanics created by the sampler and the hypnotic rhythms force the other elements to seek more tonal refuges. The fluidity of the rhythm and harmony, and the unavoidable acceptance of the present dictates convergences and divergences that may foster a truly productive synergy between the sound event, the musicians and the audience. B-side “A-side” and “B-side” refer to the two sides of a record or cassette, but they also reveal something about their contents. The A-side is typically the official side, the one that includes the hit single. The B-side is more informal and often includes a bonus track. This maat programme, developed in tandem with The Peepshow – Artists From the EDP Foundation Portuguese Art Collection, focuses on the informal side of artists, on their B-side. It aims to create space to establish a more casual relationship between the spectator and the artist. Every Saturday at the museum, we can expect the unexpected — a concert, a drawing session with a good wine, a yoga lesson about dreams — that reveals the artist’s B-side.
