O Tincal lab irá juntar-se ao próximo evento de Inaugurações Simultâneas em Miguel Bombarda no dia 11 de Maio, Sábado, com a apresentação da exposição individual “The Wanders of Life”, de Judy McCaig.
Contaremos com a presença da autora, vinda de Barcelona - venham celebrar connosco o carácter único da joalharia contemporânea, das 16h às 20h!
Para visitar até 3 de Julho.Judy McCaig foi a vencedora do Prémio Selecção do Júri do Desafio Tincal lab 2023 Joalharia e Viagem. Nesta exposição continua a viajar por territórios e culturas antigas que a inspiram.
“Vagueando por diferentes culturas, vivendo vidas.
Esta exposição aborda vários temas que me influenciaram nos últimos anos.
Interessada, desde cedo, por culturas antigas e as suas crenças na vida após a morte e em viagens além. A crença de que é preciso atravessar um rio para chegar ao céu. Artefactos simbólicos foram colocados em túmulos para ajudar nas viagens futuras. Os barcos deveriam permitir a travessia desses rios.
Do outro lado do mundo, Bruce Chatwin, no seu livro “Canto Nómada”, conta a verdadeira história dos Aborígenes e da sua terra estranha e mágica, uma terra profundamente enraizada numa história rica. O modo de vida nómada dos povos indígenas está, infelizmente, seriamente ameaçado.
Desenhando mapas mentais transmitidos através da música ritual tradicional, os Aborígenes vagueiam pelas antigas fronteiras, caminhos e linhas que cruzam as suas terras, ligando as suas comunidades distantes. Eles ouvem e sentem os cantos nómadas em busca de pegadas ancestrais e mitos nativos. Os cantos revelam a criação da terra e os segredos do seu passado.
Barcos, cabanas, moradias, refúgios e oásis encontram-se.

Judy McCaig é uma joalheira, gravadora e pintora escocesa. Estudou na DJCAD em Dundee, Escócia, antes do mestrado de três anos no The Royal College of Art em Londres. Dedicou-se à gravação durante vários anos depois de terminar o curso, até que estabeleceu a sua oficina em Londres em 1987.
Desde 1991 que vive e trabalha em Barcelona. Dá aulas desde 2001 na Escola Massana e no Taller Perill desde 2009. Foi professora convidada em escolas e oficinas de vários países e o seu trabalho tem sido amplamente expostos em galerias e museus de todo o mundo.
O seu trabalho representa frequentemente paisagens abstractas que se inspiram em observações durante as suas extensas viagens e estudos de culturas antigas e modernas.

Tincal lab will join the event of Simultaneous Openings in Miguel Bombarda on May 11th, Saturday, with the presentation of the solo exhibition “The Wanders of Life”, by Judy McCaig.

To visit until July 3rd.Judy McCaig is the winner of the Selection of the Jury Award of Tincal lab Challenge 2023 Jewelry and Travel. In this exhibition she keeps on traveling, through territories and ancient cultures that inspire her.
“Wandering through different cultures, living lives.
This exhibition draws on various themes that have influenced me in the last few years.
Interested, from an early age, in ancient cultures and their beliefs in the afterlife and travels beyond. A belief that one must cross a river to reach heaven. Symbolic artefacts were placed in the tombs to help onward journeys. Boats were to enable the crossing of those rivers.
On the other side of the world, Bruce Chatwin, in his book “Songlines”, tells the true story of the Aborigines and their strange and magical land, a land steeped in deep-rooted history. The nomadic way of life of the indigenous people is sadly seriously threatened.
Drawing mental maps transmitted through traditional ritual music, the Aborigines wander the ancient boundaries, pathways and lines that crisscross their land, connecting their distant communities. They listen and feel the song lines in search for ancestors' footprints and native myths. Songs reveal the creation of the land and the secrets of its past.
Boats, huts, dwellings, refuges and oases meet. These pieces are a result of this research.”BIO
Judy McCaig is a Scottish jeweller, printmaker and painter. She studied at DJCAD in Dundee, Scotland, before realising her three-year Master's degree at The Royal College of Art in London. Practising printmaking for several years after leaving college, then established her workshop in London in 1987.
Since 1991 she has lived and worked in Barcelona. Since 2001 she has taught at the Massana School and since 2009 at the Taller Perill. She has been a visiting lecturer in schools and workshops in several countries and her work has been shown extensively at galleries and museums worldwide.
Her work often features abstract landscapes which draw on observations from her extensive travels and studies of ancient and modern cultures.
