La Salita Madeira is pleased to introduce on the 19th of February the exhibition “Ghost Landscape” of the Italian artist Giorgia Severi who during one of her travels is ready to present for the first time her works on the island of Madeira. This exhibition titled “Ghost Landscape” that will be showed at La Salita Madeira has been realized in 2021 in Italy in Casentino National Park, one of the most important and beautiful italian forests because its biodiversity and history. Camaldoli monks protected the area for centuries living and working in the forest until now and it's still going on. The biodiversity in Casentino National Park, rapresents one of the most varied and protected in Europe. As many other places, this environment is suffering for climate change and anthropic action, so the exhibition “ghost landscape" represents some sacred and monumental trees that have been symbols for long time in a landscape and in a culture, now all very fragile. Sculptures and works on paper have been realized getting the molds of tree barks working in the National Park with special permits. Ceramics have been realized in collaboration with Bottega Gatti Faenza and Galleria La Salita. The TJANPI series are monotype prints realized in 2014 for 54°Biennale di Venezia, Country Pavillon Collateral Official Event where the artist have been working on a project dedicated to australian environment, in collaboration with 48 aboriginal artists and the support of Australia Art Council. Monotype prints have been made with tjanpi desert grass and ink on paper in South Australia. This work represents the cultural practice of controlled fires in the desert made by native people as a traditional practice for hunting, soil regeneration, to make rain and more. The result after a burnt in the australian desert, is an infinite series of black burnt bushes.
