A IMAGINAÇÃO RADICAL em Lisboa. Max Haiven, proeminente investigador no campo das ciências sociais e das humanidades, estará em Lisboa para apresentar o livro e projeto, "Radical Imagination", no próximo dia 15 de Dezembro, pelas 18h30, na Biblioteca da Universidade Lusófona. « We don´t seek to define what radical imagination is, but to investigate the way the radical imagination works» (Max Haiven e Alex Khasnabish) Se alguma vez precisámos da imaginação radical e de movimentos sociais que a materializem, esse momento é agora. Nestes tempos, quando o mundo é comandando pela crueldade de uma ideologia zombie-austeritária, nenhuma investigação pode ser neutral. Todavia, a «imaginação radical» não é uma qualidade universal, mas antes a imaginação formada a partir da experiência incorporada em sujeitos concretos e atravessados pelas dimensões de género, nacionalidade, etnicidade, classe social, entre outras diferenças. A apresentação do autor, do livro e do projeto, será realizada pelos professores José Bragança de Miranda e Rui Matoso. Max Haiven investigador e professor da Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, virá a Lisboa e ao Porto com o intuito de mapear e conhecer os novos activismos e movimentos sociais, e assim acrescentar uma dimensão portuguesa ao projeto, criado em 2010, "Imaginação Radical: Investigação sobre Movimentos Sociais na Era da Austeridade". «A imaginação radical é a capacidade de imaginar o mundo, a vida, e as instituições sociais, não como elas são, mas como eles poderiam ser. É a coragem e a inteligência de reconhecer que o mundo pode e deve ser mudado (...) A imaginação radical surge, na maioria das vezes, de forma mais brilhante em quem encontra a maior ou a mais aguda opressão e exploração, e muitas vezes é atrofiada e diluída em quem goza de maiores privilégios». Max Haiven is a researcher and professor at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, will come to Lisbon and Porto in order to map and meet new activisms and social movements, and so add a portuguese dimension to the project, created in 2010, "Radical Imagination : Research on Social Movements in the Age of Austerity". According to Max Haiven and Alex Khasnabish (co-author), « the radical imagination is the ability to imagine the world, life, and social institutions not as they are but as they might otherwise be. It is the courage and the intelligence to recognize that the world can and should be changed(...) the radical imagination often emerges most brilliantly from those who encounter the greatest or most acute oppression and exploitation, and is often stunted and diluted in those who enjoy the greatest privileges».
