International summer butoh dance workshop with Ezio Tangini

Intensive butoh workshop led by Ezio Tangini.

Solar Quinta do Pouchão, Caminho do Pouchão 2200 Abrantes Portugal. An 18th-century manor with an old chapel converted into an event space, with its own charm and style, in addition to a grandiose interior area with large rooms, in a farm with more than three hundred hectares located in the Alto Ribatejo in central Portugal and only 1h15m from Lisbon or 2h from Oporto with excellent access.

26th - 30th June 2017

From Monday 26th till Friday 30th June:
h 11,00 - 13,00 first part (body training)
light lunch (not included in the common expenses)
h 14,00 - 17,00 second part (dance)

5 hours per day for a total of 25 hours.

Performances proposed by partecipants (session open to the public)
Friday 30th June h 19,00 in the 18th-century old chapel's manor.

Part of the workshop will take place in nature.

CONTENTS OF THE WORKSHOP:
The work investigates the nature of the stage action as a condition of its determination and manifestation. Matter and time are the fundamentals. 
It involves an exercise of the state of the body focused on the exhalation, to allow to develop a state of widespread occurrence, organic, non-hierarchical. Breathing and relaxation are the basis of internal awareness of the performative action. The breathing technique is the foundation of the performative application and it determines it.
The workshop is addressed to everybody.

Please bring sleeping bed for use on comfy beds. Nevertheless, if you prefere complete bed service with clean sheets, pillow, eiderdown and towell, you can have it all just for 15,00€.

2. You will need to pay the rest of the total amount by the deadline.

The deposit will be refunded if the workshop will not start for too few applicants.

WHERE?
Quinta do Pouchão is located in the Central Portugal, Santarém District, between the city of Abrantes and the village of Sardoal, just 20 kilometers south of the geodesic center of Portugal. It has the best road accesses, namely the Beira Interior motorway (A23), which connects the northern motorway, next to Torres Novas, to the city of Guarda, which passes near the south of the property.

It is also served by the Beira Baixa railway line, with Alferrarede stations (5.7 kilometers from the site, by road) with the regional service, and Abrantes (9.5 kilometers) with fast service. Train station 3 km from the homestead (we can get and take).

In terms of distances and travel time, Quinta do Pouchão is only 1 hour and 15 minutes from Lisbon by motorway (A1 and A23), or about 2 hours by road (N118, N3 or N2). It is also 2 hours from Porto (A1, A13 and A23), 1h15m from Guarda (A23) and 3h15m from Faro.

ABOUT EZIO TANGINI
Born in Urbania (Urbino). Lives in Rome. Educated in Foreign Literatures at the University La Sapienza of Rome. Studies and practice of contemporary dance. 1998-2004 contemporary dance laboratory of Alessandra Sini. 1998 discovers Butoh with Masaki Iwana. 1998-2003 Masaki Iwana’s workshops in Normandy, Rome, Polverigi. Several workshops with other Buto dancers like Silvia Rampelli, Murobushi, Akira Kasai, Mika Takeuchi, Yumiko Yoshioka. Co-founder of the dance company In Between Butoh.
