Nas paredes deixa outros nomes, com uma febre transgressora infame que transpõe também para a música. Abraçou a electrónica vindo de territórios tradicionalmente abrasivos, entrando por algumas das suas fronteiras mais intensas - acid, hard techno, electrónica experimental. Hoje em dia é digger convicto e com um mapa de escolhas musicais menos fácil de categorizar e que pode incluir krautrock, Chicago house, Detroit techno, electro, cenas cósmicas, italo, no wave ou funk - de preferência com uma oportunidade para expansão mental e transformação. Trocou Lisboa por Berlin há uns anos, onde fez festas regulares e residências em clubes-chave como Griessmuehle ou Sameheads, fez parte da formação inicial de crews como a Mechatronica e outras, deixando marca na cidade. Está na Quântica desde o início com o programa Mind of Many onde relata a sua jornada musical e nos apresenta a outros fanáticos do beat. Nesta rara passagem por Lisboa vem mostrar-nos os últimos achados e contar-nos as novas aventuras. No entanto, se lhe perguntarem, refere antes os meados da década seguinte como o verdadeiro ponto de partida da sua carreira de DJ profissional, e desde aí tem nutrido a nossa scene com um contributo incansável e íntegro, desligado da vaidade e da volatilidade que tantas vezes povoam um underground que se diz apostado em valores de comunidade e continuidade. Apesar disso, António Castelo Branco já rodou ouro negro com muitos dos maiores em clubes que marcaram muito o contínuo do clubbing português - e nota-se. A espontaneidade e fluidez com que cruza pérolas deep house com funk, disco ou até techno foi sublimada por muitos anos de serviço à pista e seguirá para sempre fresca e relevante aos ouvidos daqueles que procuram substância. Lost in Space https://soundcloud.com/igorakalostinspace https://residentadvisor.net/dj/lostinspace À primeira, é natural que o nome Lost in Space não diga muito à maioria dos fãs lisboetas de música electrónica, mas se falarmos de Igor Inácio e do seu projecto Roundhouse Kick com Adriana Lourinho, talvez a reacção seja outra; juntos, através de editoras como a One Eyed Jacks, Paraíso, Extended Records ou a francesa I'm A Cliché, de Cosmo Vitelli, Igor Inácio e Adriana Lourinho lançaram algumas das melhores pérolas da dance music portuguesa da última década, e com o seu live-act criaram uma reputação intocável nos circuitos underground da nossa capital. Antes de Roundhouse Kick, no entanto, já existia Lost in Space e as festas Electronic Cult, em Portimão, onde Igor reunía um pequeno grupo de párias sedentos de música vanguardista em oposição ao contexto de hegemonia comercial do clubbing algarvio. As actuações que tem feito por Lisboa nos últimos tempos (incluindo o seu já clássico fecho de uma das festas Mina) ficaram gravados na memória dos nossos ravers e a sua estreia a solo no Lux para fechar a próxima festa Quântica é, adivinharam, imperdível. Começou a tentar acertar discos, a arranhar a técnica e rapidamente lhe apanhou o jeito. Quando a conhecemos já tinha deixado o trance para trás e abria a pista numa das já míticas festas Barghain, organizadas pelo colectivo activista queer Rabbit Hole. Nessa noite arrastou-nos a todos consigo para uma viagem magnética de techno despido e ácido irresistível, e daí a tornar-se residente da infame festa techno queer lisboeta Mina foi um pequeno passo. Continuou, desde aí, a hipnotizar-nos frequentemente por entre as explosões frenéticas de strobe que rompem a escuridão total e a névoa densa da máquina de fumos. É também uma incansável activista com uma fé inabalável no poder que advém de uma ocupação cívica, contestatária e celebratória das ruas - espírito que frequentemente leva para o seu programa de rádio na Quântica, de nome Desastre. Rhythm Phazer https://soundcloud.com/rhythmphazer https://residentadvisor.net/dj/rhythmphazer Produtores de house colorida, disco soulful e machine funk, Rhythm Phazer são a dupla Canadiana de Vandi e Heidy P. Têm vindo a traçar um percurso sónico único ao criar sets híbridos em constante evolução que usam misturas longas de DJing como ponto de partida, adicionando camadas de interesse diretamente da cabine através de sampling, remixing e beatmaking ao vivo. Originalmente de Montreal e Toronto, as suas respectivas cidades natais, a propensão para viajar levou-os a vários cantos do mundo, tendo passado tempo e actuado em cidades tão diversas como Paris, Berlim, Phnom Penh, Ho Chi Minh e Nova York. Tocaram ao vivo no icónico Dimensions Festival na Croácia e emitiram uma série de programas de rádio para estações-chave do underground global como a Rinse France e a Berlin Community Radio. Recentemente, mudaram-se para Lisboa, onde actuam ao vivo, continuando a aperfeiçoar a sua produção e ainda a fazer um programa mensal na Rádio Quântica. Os seus sets, que combinam sem esforço luz e sombra, isolamento e entropia, já puderam ser testemunhados em clubes, house parties, noites punk e afters um pouco por toda a Europa e Maghreb. Taxila fundou a plataforma BRAVE com a Galeria Zé dos Bois em Lisboa - uma noite essencial que liga os pontos entre alguns dos mais interessantes criadores de música e DJs que operam nas margens do nosso panorama social e sónico. In the walls of buildings, however, he writes other names with a transgressive fever that has become infamous and that also informs his relationship with music. Bruno embraced electronic music coming from other traditionally more abrasive territories, and first got into its more intense edges - acid, hard-techno, experimental electronics. Nowadays he's a devoted digger, with a musical map of preferences that's a bit harder to categorise and that can include krautrock, Chicago house, Detroit techno, electro, cosmic beats, italo, no wave or funk - preferably music that offers an opportunity for mind expansion and transformation. A few years ago he left Lisbon for Berlin where he organised regular parties and played residencies in key clubs such as Griessmuehle or Sameheads, helping kickstart nights such as Mechatronica and others, and leaving his mark on the city. Chaomos is with Quântica since the start, doing his Mind of Many radio show where he shares his musical journey and introduces us to other beat fanatics. During this rare passage through Lisbon, he comes to show us his latest finds and tell us all about his recent adventures. DJ CASTLE With a career spanning close to three decades now, DJ Castle started out like many from his generation; fascinated by the explosion of electronic music that happened in the 80s. But If you ask him, he'll point to the mid-90s as the real start for his DJing career, having since then nurtured our scene non-stop by playing the long game with integrity and style, shying away from the vanity and volatility that often plague an underground that swears by values such as community and continuity. Despite that, António Castelo Branco has already spun some of his black gold with the best of them in some of the tops clubs in portuguese clubbing history - and it shows. The spontaneity and fluidity with which he mixes deep house gems, funk, disco or even techno was sublimated by years at the service of dancefloors and will continue to be as fresh and relevant as always to ears seeking some substance. The real deal, with emotion and skill - not to be missed. LOST IN SPACE At first glance, the name Lost in Space might not right a bell to the majority of electronic music fans gliding through Lisbon, but a quick mention of Igor Inácio and Roundhouse Kick (his project with Adriana Lourinho) might get a different reaction; together, through labels like One Eyed Jacks, Paraíso, Extended Records or Cosmo Vitelli's I'm A Cliché, Igor Inácio and Adriana Lourinho have released some of the finest dance music gems coming from Portugal in the last decade, and through their killer live-act they've created a pristine reputation in Lisbon's underground circuit. But before Roundhouse Kick, there was already Lost in Space and the Electronic Cult parties in Portimão, where Igor would gather a small number of pariahs eager to listen to forward-thinking beats that would contrast with the Algarve's context of hegemonic commercial music. His latest DJ sets in Lisbon (including his now classic closing set for Mina) are still vividly fresh in the minds of our ravers and his solo debut closing the next Quântica is, you guessed it, not to be missed. NAOMI A precocious talent in the Lisbon techno scene, Mariana Pinho often tells about how she had an early start experimenting with DJing when she was still going to trance raves a lot; she started to make a few attempts at beatmatching, trying to wing it and soon enough she got the hang of it. When we first met her Mariana had already left trance behind and was warming up at one of the now legendary Barghain parties, organised by the activist queer collective Rabbit Hole. That night she dragged us into a thrilling journey through irresistible acid techno and from there until becoming a resident at Lisbon's infamous queer techno party Mina was a small step. Since then, she's continued to hypnotise us from behind of a wall of frantic strobelight discharge, the dense mist of smoke machines and pitch-black darkness. She's also a devoted activist with a firm belief in the power that comes from a civic, contestatory and celebratory occupation of the streets - a spirit she often brings to her radio show Desastre that she hosts on Rádio Quântica. RHYTHM PHAZER Purveyors of colourful house, soulful disco and machine funk, Rhythm Phazer are a Lisbon-based Canadian duo formed by Vandi and Heidy P. They've carved a unique sonic path by performing ever-evolving hybrid sets that use long DJ mixes as a starting point, adding layers of interest direct from the booth through live sampling, remixing, and beatmaking. Originally from Montreal and Toronto, their respective hometowns, their penchant for travelling and wandering has taken them all over the world, having spent time and performed in cities as diverse as Paris, Berlin, Phnom Penh, Ho Chi Minh and New York. They've performed at the iconic Dimensions Festival in Croatia and have hosted a string of radio shows for seminal underground stations like Rinse France and Berlin Community Radio. They've recently moved to Lisbon, where they've been performing live while continuing to hone their production craft and also hosting a monthly show on Rádio Quântica. TAXILA An indispensable agitator of culture and ideas that is helping to shape a new Lisbon - more open, more aware, more complete -, Taxila traverses a multidimensional underground as a DJ, seamlessly stitching together some of the freshest club music from outside the usual axis of major dance cities. Her sets, which effortlessly combine light and dark, isolation and entropy, have been witnessed at clubs, house parties, punk nights and afters across Europe and Maghreb. She runs music platform BRAVE with Galeria Zé dos Bois in Lisbon - an essential night that joins the dots between some of the most interesting music creators and DJs that operate in the fringes of our sonic and social landscape. Taxila also airs her monthly radio show of the same name on Rádio Quântica and does important work as a programmer for other music and cultural events, including the community, feminist, queer festival Rama em Flor.
