This workshop introduces the participants to generative design of letterforms based on typographic skeletons and drawing techniques. Imagine an empty Christmas tree and a Christmas tree with decorations. Now the Christmas tree is a typographic skeleton, and the decoration is any shape that you use to give it form. That’s what we will be doing in this workshop, exploring possibilities to create unique glyphs/letters based on typographic skeletons and drawing techniques. We will be using p5.js , which enables all our creativity to be limited only to the imagination. Workshop lectured by Fábio Pereira ( Divisa. and CDV. lab ). This event will take place in the Department of Informatics Engineering of the University of Coimbra (room E4.1). Due to the current pandemic situation in Portugal, the participants must present a valid COVID digital certificate at the entrance of the workshop. Github Repository: https://github.com/fabioop/workshop-pcd21 — Fábio Pereira describes himself as a graphic designer who has learned too many programming languages. He got his master’s degree in Design and Multimedia at the University of Coimbra, where he explored type design with generative processes for his thesis which resulted in Letterspecies, a generative web-based tool. Currently, he is on a new adventure as co-founder of Divisa.
