After gaining popularity on the underground electronic circuit with the project Lighght, he began creating a varied body of work and working under many different aliases including his own name and Mineral Stunting, reserving the Lighght alias for club focused production. Como HIFA já passou pelo ambient, o techno e outros ritmos 4/4, e recentemente texturas mais ligadas ao gabber e ao footwork, mas agora, em jeito catartico, prescinde dos ritmos e explora a ligação entre a linguagem eletronica que constroi desde 2018 e o baixo distorcido que ultimamente tem preferido. A procura entre as pontes que ligam canções, o ruído, e o que ameniza. Uma tentativa de procurar e expor o lado emocional que esconde por detrás da dança. SAD is the new project of Francisco Couto, an ever present name in portuguese alternative music for the last few years, through this solo project HIFA or as the bass player of bands such as bbb hairdryer, nëss or Maria Reis’ live trio. As HIFA, he’s delved between ambient, techno and other 4/4 rhythms, recently exploring textures more connected to gabber or footwork. However, in a cathartic transformation of sorts, he’s now relinquishing these rhythms and exploring the language between the electronic music he’s made since 2018 and the distorted bass guitar he’s lately embraced. The search for connections between songs, noise and everything that softens it.
